Scaling Neuro

Functional EPI contribution policy

open-epi-2.0.0 ยท effective 23 July 2026

What neuro-sync shares

neuro-sync searches the selected folder for functional echo-planar imaging time series. Only series supported by standard EPI and temporal DICOM metadata and the local privacy checks are uploaded. Structural scans, localizers, diffusion, field maps, secondary captures, non-image objects, and ambiguous series stay on the workstation.

Your authority to contribute

By continuing, you confirm that your institution authorizes the selected functional MRI data to be deidentified and placed in the shared Scaling Neuro research archive. This confirmation does not replace participant consent, an IRB determination, a data-use agreement, or institutional review.

What leaves the workstation

What is removed locally

Direct identifiers, dates and times, clinical and administrative fields, institution, station and operator identity, descriptions, comments, source paths and filenames, overlays, graphics, and unreviewed private metadata are removed before transfer. The rewritten files are recursively audited before an archive can be uploaded.

Storage and use

One deidentified DICOM archive per selected series is stored in Cloudflare R2. Participating research labs can request access, download the DICOM archives, and choose their own conversion and preprocessing workflow. Scaling Neuro does not run conversion, preprocessing, or analysis.

Withdrawal

A lab may request workstation revocation or upload withdrawal by contacting [email protected] with the pseudonymous upload ID from its local report.

Stopping is safe. Cancelling before the authorization prompt uploads nothing. Interrupted work resumes only when the same folder command is run again.
